Week 1- Shutter

Fast shutter: f/5.6   1/250    ISO 100   AWB

In this photograph i've used a fast shutter speed because I am wanting to freeze the action. You can see here that my subject is about to jump I think this photo would have been more affective if the background was blurred and her hand was in focus also maybe if i had shot this in a portrait angle fitting her whole body into the shot.

Medium shutter: f/13    1/30   ISO100  AWB

Slow shutter: f/25    1.0    ISO100  AWB

Panning: f/13    1/40    ISO100  AWB

This photo was taken with a medium shutter speed, Medium shutter speeds are much preferred for Portrait photography because the subject is not moving so you are not needing to freeze the action. I like how the subject is in focus and the background is slightly softened making the subject stand out.

This photo was taken with a low shutter speed and because we were outside the photo came out over exposed whereas if i had photographed inside using the same settings the photo would not have been as exposed or maybe even a bit too dark. I like this shot and the blurred movement of the subject much like Francesca Woodman who photographs using long exposure times leaving her subjects to merge into their surrounding backgrounds.

Panning photography is a unique and great way to capture movement. As you can see in this photograph the background is blurred and the subject is in focus. I feel that this image would have looked even better if the background was blurred more so next time I will move my body more to create that motion blurred background.

                                                                  Self Directed Task.

Self directed task- f/29    2.0   ISO400  AWB

Who would have thought that something as simple as my friend
jumping around with two torches could look so effective and
beautiful. I love the difference of the blue light and the yellow. This photo
would have looked even more effective it the whole frame was
filled with the patterns from the light.
