Week 7- Chiaroscuro- Loop, Split, Rembrant

Split

split lighting is when the light is directly beside the model which only lights up half of the model. I really like the dramatic effect this lighting gives.  For this to work thoroughly we had to turn off all lights and use manual focus to focus on model.

Loop

This lighting technique is when the light is moved more to the front of the model so it creates a dark loop like shadow from the models nose. This lighting effect is perfect for average, oval shaped faces.
As you can see in the photos below the loop was very successful. The shadowing in Tatiana's portrait is very flattering!

Rembrant

Rembrant is when there is a triangle formed under the eye. This reminds me of a clowns face! To do this the light needs to be moved further to the front of the model but not as far as you would for the loop effect but just far enough where the light hits the models cheek on the opposite side.
Absolutely love the photo of karen! Looks so good. Was a challenge to create this affect.
